There are various surface treatment processes for flanges, aimed at improving their corrosion resistance, wear resistance, aesthetics, and service life. Here are some common flange surface treatment processes:

Galvanizing process:

Overview: Galvanizing is the process of coating the surface of a flange with a layer of zinc to prevent rusting and corrosion.

Classification: Hot dip galvanizing and electroplated galvanizing. The hot-dip galvanized coating has uniform thickness, strong adhesion, and good corrosion resistance, but it consumes more energy; Electrogalvanizing has high production efficiency and low pollution, but the coating thickness is relatively thin.

Thermal spraying process:

Overview: Thermal spraying is the process of heating metal or metal alloy powder above its melting point, and then spraying it onto the surface of a flange at high speed to form a uniform and dense coating.

Advantages: Strong coating adhesion, good corrosion resistance, adjustable coating thickness, able to meet the needs of different occasions.

Disadvantages: High equipment cost and low powder utilization during the spraying process.

Electrophoretic process:

Overview: Electrophoresis is the process of immersing a flange in an electrolytic cell containing electrophoretic coating, and depositing coating particles on the surface of the flange under the action of an electric field to form a coating.

Advantages: Strong corrosion resistance and adhesion ability, able to form uniform thin films, environmentally friendly.

Disadvantage: The color is relatively monotonous.

Surface cleaning and passivation treatment:

Cleaning: Use chemical cleaning (such as acid washing, alkali washing) or mechanical cleaning (such as sandblasting, polishing) to remove oil stains, oxide scales, and other impurities from the flange surface.

Passivation: Immerse the flange in nitric acid solution or specialized passivation solution to form a dense oxide film on its surface, improving its corrosion resistance.

Electroplating treatment:

Overview: Electroplating is the process of coating the surface of a flange with a layer of metal, such as nickel, chromium, etc., to improve its wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and decorative properties.

Common types of electroplating: Nickel plating can improve corrosion resistance and surface smoothness; Chromium plating can enhance wear resistance and surface hardness.

Spray treatment:

Overview: Spraying is the process of applying a protective film, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and ceramic coating, onto the surface of a flange.

Advantages: The sprayed flange has excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and wear resistance, making it suitable for applications in extreme environments.

Other processes:

Such processes as painting, rust prevention treatment, etc. can be selected according to specific needs and application scenarios.

In summary, there are various surface treatment processes for flanges, each with its unique advantages and applicable scope. When choosing, comprehensive consideration should be given to factors such as flange material, usage environment, performance requirements, and cost budget to ensure the selection of the most suitable surface treatment process.
